Priorities from the Orange County Planning Department
(http://www.co.orange.ny.us/,
search "Planning Department") in cooperation with The
Nature Conservancy and the Orange
County Water Authority.
In
order to communicate effectively with the constituents of Orange
County, Jeff has instituted a plan of action. Legislator Berkman
sponsors meetings, or Open Forums, in various locations to
speak with the people of our community. Anyone who wants to express
an opinion or needs assistance with county government may visit
with Jeff to discuss their concerns. Those meetings have open agendas.
Sometimes Jeff schedules these Open Forums at a location
of another group's meeting. Please let Jeff know of your requests
so we may cooperate with coinciding schedules and meetings with
specific agendas.
Jeff
testified at the New York State Assembly hearing on the Indian Point
evacuation plan in the White Plains Public Library on January 17,
2003. Mr. Berkman was invited to comment about the inadequacy of
the plan by Richard Brodsky.
Jeff
attended a meeting for the Healthy Orange Center at Mount Saint
Mary's College in Newburgh on January 31, 2003. This community group
is dedicated to improving health in regard to heart disease.
