Orange County sells Salesian Property to Village of GoshenThe Orange County Legislature
Friday voted to sell the Salesian Property in the Village of Goshen
to that municipality. Some lawmakers called for
the contract to be returned to committee for final review once it is
negotiated, something the majority of legislators said was contrary
to standard procedure. Lawmakers like Jeffrey
Berkman supported selling the land for the $1.2 million price tag
and allowing Goshen to move forward with its plans. He said local government,
which is buying the land, will protect its own interest and protect
open space there. Goshen wants to use some of the land for a new library, and some for planned housing development, but keep most of the 51-acres for open space. |
